The cuckoo and the donkey
Der Kuckuck und der Esel

Arr.: Kerstin Wartberg & David Andruss

Listen to our brand new song, variations on the German Folk Song. It is a famous and very old German
children’s song from the early 19th century. Its text was written by Hoffmann von Fallersleben in 1835,
the melody was already composed by Carl Friedrich Zelter in 1810. The song is about a singing contest
between a cuckoo and a donkey.
We arranged it especially for the group of mixed-level children and teacher trainees from Pre-Twinkle up to book 6 for our Mallorca workshop. So it was sort of a world premiere.
We had a lot of fun to learn this song and its variations.

Music & Movement
Witches Dance by Paganini
(Suzuki Violin School / Step by Step, vol. 2B)

Isabel Morey Suau, Suzuki Violin Teacher Trainer, plays the Witches Dance by Paganini with a children group. Her creativity and imagination for the development of skills combined with enjoyment seem to be ENDLESS …
This short film shows her in full action.

Benefits of Music & Movement

Young children enjoy moving around when they hear music. They feel energy, life, joy, and playfulness. Teachers should encourage this desire and include these activities into their teaching. Research has shown that the connection between body movement, rhythm and awareness is beneficial to the development during the whole childhood, which includes not only thinking and feeling, but also motoric abilities.

With the help of MUSIC & MOVEMENT children develop most notably their skills for
• listening
• observing
• imitating
• memorizing
• concentrating
• performing
• discipline
• perseverance
• sensitivity to feelings and emotions
